Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

COO and Corporate Functions Finance provides financial leadership for the Chief Operating Office as well as corporate functions including Corporate Risk, Legal, Human Resources, Audit, Finance, Public Affairs, Strategy Digital & Innovation, and Diverse Segments, Representation, and Inclusion.

The Finance Team is responsible for providing proactive leadership and consultative support to enhance business intelligence and drive improvements in processes and in alignment with overall function and company objectives. Outstanding leadership skills and the proven ability to foster a culture of strong consultation, sound controls, and continuous improvement will be determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will possess strong inter-personal effectiveness, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement. A key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed environment.

The Role

The Finance Senior Consultant will serve as a business subject matter expert (SME) regarding finance matters and oversight and will provide strategic financial leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, analysis, metrics development and tracking, and costing activities. The role interacts and collaborates with the Corporate teams on a near-daily basis and will partner with other finance and accounting teams from across Wells Fargo.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct finance leadership and support to the Corporate Risk division as well as other corporate functions as needed through the normal course of business as well as organizational changes
  • Lead processes for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, development and tracking of expense initiatives, cost allocations, and analysis for the groups supported
  • Strategic advice - focused articulate key messages and insights, along with credible challenge, informed by strong business knowledge.
  • Leader engagement - active interactions, with mix of communications frequency, method and content based on leader scope, complexity, and tenure; balanced to both inform and challenge.
  • Forecast / Budget / Business Reviews - ensure proper preparation of relevant and focused financial materials for reviews and other leader reporting
  • Expense analysis and management - Actively lead the continued development of a culture of cost discipline including contribution to idea generation and ownership of alignment to financial headcount tracking, expense initiatives' tool reporting and overall financial transparency. Monthly reviews of plans to achieve savings, provide inputs, challenges where appropriate. Align with business on opportunities and assist in moving to execution of initiatives.
  • Indirect expenses & allocations - crisp reporting and analysis (incoming and outgoing); assessment of drivers for improved clarity of controllability. Understand current methodologies, impacts, taxonomy, services, and review & update as appropriate across Risk groups supported.
  • Ensure active compliance with risk management and enterprise policies including Models / EUCTs, legal entities, accounting / accruals while maintaining active partnership with Controllers, Risk, and Legal colleagues


Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics and reporting; or a BS/BA degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics or reporting

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management principles: tracking deliverables and coordinating tasks and activities : deliverables
  • Ability to track and monitor project progress, identify project and process gaps, recommend controls and communicate progress to business leaders



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated capability to synthesize complex analytical findings into executive level communications and presentations
  • Working knowledge and hands on experience with toolsets like Essbase/SmartView, Tableau, Project Tracking, and Costing tools
