Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

The Wells Fargo Home Lending Finance team is looking for an innovative, results-oriented, strategic and analytical leader to join our team. This position will lead financial management of a multi-billion dollar residential mortgage portfolio and assist in generating annual revenue. This role will be responsible for leading a Finance team which provides strategic partnership and highly complex financial analysis in support of the Revenue and Portfolio Lending area within Capital Markets.

The Home Lending Revenue and Portfolio Finance Sr Manager will act as a strategic partner to Home Lending's Revenue and Portfolio lending leadership, the head of WFHL Capital Markets, the WFHL Capital Markets CFO, and WFHL's CFO. This role is a new position that will provide comprehensive balance sheet management to optimize total Wells Fargo profitability through secondary marketing, portfolio and capital returns in partnership with other Wells Fargo business groups. The position will provide innovative thought leadership and oversee highly complex financial analysis to drive new strategies for Held for Sale and Held for Investment balance sheet assets and to optimize pricing and revenue generation for Home Lending's Retail and Correspondent lending groups. It will drive pricing of new originations, expansion of products, development of executive presentation material, forecasting, collaboration with other Wells Fargo business groups, analyzing product profitability, creating internal management accounting and portfolio accounting structure. This Finance Sr Manager will lead a team of 13 financial consultants.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic partner to Revenue and Portfolio Lending leadership, interfacing with all levels of executive leaders, identifying balance sheet opportunities, optimizing portfolio and capital returns.
  • Develop business strategies based on analysis of revenue drivers, performance metrics, trends in population distributions, predictive scenario modeling, volume elasticity expectations in response to pricing changes and other complex analysis that maximizes revenue and optimizes balance sheet assets.
  • Support Portfolio Line of Business leadership in coordination of monthly executive presentations, developing content which effectively messages the story behind the financial results, at an appropriate level of detail for executive level audiences
  • Develop a new hold vs sell evaluation framework
  • Support implementation of new products
  • Provide primary point of contact for business leaders and finance leaders on a wide range of topics related to Portfolio results, serving as expert consultant on highly complex financial issues spanning the portfolios
  • Actively lead, develop and evaluate solutions to a wide range of highly complex financial problems and business activities; anticipate issues based on knowledge of business trends and accounting treatments
  • Identify, analyze and report/monitor the financial impact of proposed strategic business initiatives
  • Research and report on financial results, identify underlying performance drivers, and perform complex variance and trend analysis.
  • Develop monthly forecasts, including alignment of volume, attrition, and market size
  • Assess the reasonableness of complex Revenue and Portfolio forecasting models, and develop sophisticated methodology to support results and/or adjustments to those models, in support of the forecasting process
  • Perform ongoing ad-hoc analysis to quantify financial risk exposures
  • Manage functional tasks and ongoing Financial processes including AU and general ledger maintenance, Product Profitability cost component updates, intercompany Portfolio arrangements, internal revenue allocations, and FAS91 cost deferral analytics
  • Lead and manage a diverse, highly effective team of 13 finance consultants, driving consistent and efficient finance processes
  • Understands regulatory, compliance and risk management requirements for supported area and works with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives.
  • Manage risk effectively through strong controls and processes

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success and mastery managing in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills
  • Highly refined and professional verbal and written communications
  • Knowledge and understanding of capital markets: products and pricing
  • Knowledge and understanding of mortgage portfolio analysis or management
  • Knowledge and understanding of option and mortgage valuation models
  • Leadership experience with ability to effectively manage and engage teams



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 2+years Mortgage banking experience
  • Experience providing Finance leadership of revenue generation and/or balance sheet portfolios
  • Experience pricing residential mortgages
  • Proven ability to take a global view to grow portfolios and optimize returns
  • Experience building forecast presentations with a clear, concise narrative focused on strategic themes and calls to action
  • Experience developing and executing communication strategies by collaborating with large, matrixed teams
  • Ability to articulate a complex problem, design, or build strategy
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills combined with strategic business focus.
  • Highly effective consultative leader with a strong presence and credibility as a result of demonstrating strong business and financial acumen.
