Job description
Position Summary: The Corporate Coatings Line Manager's primary role is to identify, plan and implement a practical system to powder coat raw steel products in the most efficient manner possible in coordination with other fabrication operations. This includes management of line efficiency, quality, recommending decisions on current and future system improvements and ownership of overall coating line performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as an analyst of company data, specifically related to identifiable areas of improvement, industry position of the company and logical problem solving relating to coating technology.
Actively participate in company strategy meetings, understanding Tank Connection's vision in our industry, expected product throughput rates and future initiatives.
Craft strategy to achieve corporate goals in accordance with company and client needs.
Implement an efficiency scoreboard using line speed and line density as primary indicators.
Monitor, illustrate and communicate with team members and management the metrics surrounding coating line efficiency.
Coordinate closely with other operational areas to create the most streamlined and efficient overall production process for Tank Connection.
Effectively lead weekly meetings with teams to set priorities and work processes.
Lead team in coating line advancement projects including capital automation projects, including top coat recovery, PLC controls and general automation.
Actively participate in Production Planning as dictated by company needs.
Collaborate with various departments to solve technical issues that arise during the course of a project and make recommendations for corrective actions and enhancements.
Assist in making business decisions relating to system implementation, modification, maintenance, etc.
Participate in the process of New Product Development.
Research trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures that are developing in our industries and their potential impacts to TC.
Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs.
Promote teamwork adhesion within the company.
Actively engage fellow team members and inspire them to greatness.
Participate in industry groups, committees and conferences related to our products.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Specifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate complex commercial or technical information.
Demonstrated proficiency with G-Suite, MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Write and understand Root Cause Analysis tools such as 5 W's and utilize results to take corrective action safely on field issues.
Must be detail oriented and have strong leadership abilities.
Elite problem-solving skills.
Able to manage multi-task work in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet job requirements.
Able to travel in the course of work approximately 25% of the time, primarily between plants with other travel to domestic job sites as necessary.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or experience in a related technical field is preferred
Experience/Certification/or ability to be certified in Lean/Six Sigma methods and protocol
Thorough knowledge of powder coating technology and equipment
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
