Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing Hill's Global Analytical technologies and methods. This includes but is not limited to:

- Partnering with 3rd parties to identify new equipment and development of internal methodologies

- Internal development, validation and introduction of new equipment and testing methodologies for Hill's manufacturing facilities.

- Continuously improve existing Analytical equipment and methodologies to better support the Corporate Analytical program goals.

Internal development, validation and introduction of new equipment and testing methodologies

• Evaluation of equipment for testing characteristics, development and in-house implementation.
• Develop equipment and method protocols for proof of concept, validation and implementation.
• Drive/lead implementation of identified equipment into the Hill's Manufacturing Analytical Laboratories.
• Work with site Analytical Laboratory Team Leaders to fully integrate new equipment and methodology into their programs.
• Lead program for data analytics and other no-touch quality initiatives for each plant. This includes working directly with the plants on how to implement, tracking timelines, setting up meetings and networking with internal partners.

Partnering with internal and external partners to identify new equipment and development of internal methodologies

• Investigate, identify, develop and introduce new technologies and internal methodologies to the Hill's Analytical program.
• Work with external partners on development of contacts and quotations related to equipment and methodology development work.

Continuously improve existing analytical equipment and methodologies

Review plant analytical data/laboratory trends (equipment maintenance, characteristic test results and method issues), identify trends and potential actions to address gaps.

• Support site Analytical Laboratory Team Leaders on internal audit identified actions.
• Generate a global report on data/laboratory trends for quarterly presentations to leadership.
• Support Hill's global analytical program / other duties as assigned.

Basic requiered qualifications:

• BS in Chemistry, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years Quality manufacturing/Analytical experience in a Food or drug/ cGMP environment
• Minimum 2 years experience with managing external relationships
• Possess scientific and technical knowledge of chemistry and analytical techniques.
• Working knowledge of complementary disciplines and new technologies

Preferred qualifications include:

• Masters/PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
• 5+ years Quality manufacturing / Analytical experience in a Food or drug / cGMP environment
• 3+ years managing external relationships
• Experience with Separation technologies (HPLC/GC/TLC/MS)
• Certified Auditor
