Full-time Advocate Coordinator

for CASA of South Central KY

(serving Barren, Hart, Metcalfe, & Warren)

General description

The Advocate Coordinator provides professional staff supervision and support to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) ensuring the children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and permanency planning. The Advocate Coordinator also assists in general office and administrative duties supporting their role of assisting volunteer advocates.

Qualifications

The Advocate Coordinator should have the following education, skills, and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in a social service related field.
  • A minimum of two years work experience in social work, sociology, or other closely related field is preferred.
  • The ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. Experience with volunteers is highly desired.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse, neglect, and dependency is given preference.
  • Commitment to CASA's vision, mission and goals.

Accountability

The Advocate Coordinator is hired by the Executive Director of the program. The Advocate Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director who is responsible for the Advocate Coordinator's performance evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete CASA's new volunteer training.
  • Assist in recruiting, screening, interviewing, and training of new volunteers for service to victims of abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence.
  • Assist in reviewing new DNA (Dependency/Neglect/Abuse) cases and assigning appropriate advocates in consultation with the Executive Director.
  • Help in developing initial case plans and on-going strategies for advocacy and providing victim assistance services and referrals to the adult and child victims of abuse.
  • Assist Advocates in making referrals to community partners for services related to abuse and victim advocacy.
  • Provide assistance and consultation for advocates as needed and when requested but at least one time per month.
  • Coordinate and attend in-service training for volunteers.
  • Maintain case files.
  • Attend court hearings when possible and track court dates.
  • Assist Advocates in preparing court reports.
  • Review, edit, and distribute copies of advocates' court reports.
  • Document contact with advocates and clients.
  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and producing data for reporting purposes.
  • Assist in case and volunteer data entry into data tracking program.
  • Assist in home visits as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Copy and distribute correspondence to advocates regarding case assignments.
  • Copy and distribute correspondence to advocates regarding CASA related hearings, meetings, events, and activities.
  • Attend weekly CASA staff meetings.
  • When possible, return all phone calls within 24 hours.
  • Assist in development of the CASA newsletter and recruitment materials.
  • Attend collaborative committee meetings with or in place of the Executive Director.
  • Attend case conferences with or for volunteer advocates.
  • Travel is required within the South Central KY region and occasionally within the state of Kentucky.

This is a full-time position.

Pay: $35,567.00 - $35,568.00 per year
