Job Description/Responsibilities

Reporting to the HR Director - Operations, the Human Resource Manager manages HR functions including counseling managers on policies, discipline actions, procedures, and development activities for salaried and hourly personnel; remains current and advises employees on company benefits; conducts investigations, maintains personnel records, advises managers/supervisors about union contract requirements, is the lead negotiator for labor contracts and grievance settlements, completes workforce planning initiatives and staffing activities.

* Drive employee development making sure that true development is occurring: managers provide meaningful feedback, basic and advanced management and leadership skills are built within our managers and supervisors, curriculum created to facilitate development at all levels, and development experiences are identified/designed. Improve own skills as defined in development plan. Monitor Career Development System (CDS) usage.
* Develop relationships and build trust with employees, labor union and union leadership through consistent and fair action, communication and administration / negotiation of collective bargaining agreement. Lead negotiator for grievance settlements and contracts. Advisor to leadership team on contract interpretation.
* Assess facility culture through various methods to ensure alignment with Sazerac Company vision and values. Drive and enhance programs, benefits, policies, and procedures that reinforce the desired culture and, when necessary, recommend, develop, obtain approval for and execute new or changes to processes and programs. Address areas of concern that may be a hindrance to desired culture. Hold employees and managers accountable to their contributions to the desired company culture. Create and execute on engagement actions plans based on culture survey data and metrics.
* Lead the development and execution of a sound safety program to achieve zero injuries at the assigned location. Lead the creation of a safety culture to ensure employees think safety first and watch out for the safety of their team mates; Recommend, develop, obtain approval for and execute policies and programs to enhance the safety of all employees; safety training development and execution; leadership of an active safety committee; creation and oversight of a system to quickly identify and remedy safety hazards.
* Lead the hiring process for all positions at the assigned location. Ensure use of Sazerac hiring and staffing system and processes. Hire top talent that aligns with our overall succession planning strategy.
* Lead HR, partnering with other functions to develop and refine proactive strategies to ensure workforce talent meets business needs. Provide subject matter expertise to ensure decisions are fully informed, targets are met or exceeded and company values are infused into every activity and decision. Ensure professional HR communication, with appropriately comprehensive information, providing and accepting regular feedback for improving performance. Drive development and flawless execution of HR systems and processes to achieve results. Achieve and sustain exceptional HR reputation for timely action & responsiveness.
* Drive the CDS process; monitor the usage of the CDS system and follow up as needed to make sure the system is used; act as a resource for the management team in the use of the CDS system. Ensure development plans are being executed for identified internal successors.
* Ensure adherence to all Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices.
* Develop/Recommend HR processes that are aligned with company policies and programs; communicate processes and provide training as needed to ensure compliance.
* Recommend enhancements to the system when/where necessary to ensure HR and Operations have the information available to do their jobs in an efficient manner; Reduce duplication of data entry when/where appropriate.

Requirements

MUST

* Bachelor's Degree required
* Minimum 5 years of related HR experience
* Minimum 3-years experience managing in a union environment
* Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
* Demonstrate the ability to work as a team as well as self-directed
* Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
* Experience in performance development or employee relations & engagement

PREFERRED

* Master's degree in related field
