Job Description
Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Communications Specialist/Writer. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Communications Specialist and Writer will support external and internal communications for the Office of the President. Through speeches, reports, presentations, op-eds, web content, and collateral material, the Communications Specialist and Writer will translate complex concepts into powerful language for a wide range of audiences. They will exercise sound editorial judgement and maintain discretion. The Communications Specialist and Writer will participate actively in editing or providing feedback on presidential communications drafted by others. The person in this position will work closely with colleagues across the college to ensure mutual alignment with institutional messages, themes, and priorities.

Core Responsibilities:
- Ability to write powerfully, effectively, creatively, and clearly across a range of media-often while working under tight deadlines.
- Ability to capture the distinctive voice of the president in speeches, remarks, op-eds, presentations, and other written works.
- Demonstrated ability to conceive and write publicly consumed material for senior leadership for internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrated superior writing and editing skills, including broad knowledge of grammar and style.
- Demonstrated expertise in writing speeches for leaders of complex organizations. Ability to manage multiple priorities and a track record of delivering work that is free of errors and on time
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field
- 3 years of related professional experience
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSC does not sponsor employment-related visas)

Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary range for this position is $45,000-48,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
