Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is currently seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to work with a top research company in Richmond, KY. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, establishes and implements laboratory safety policies and culture based on OHSA, DA PAM 385-61 and best industrial hygiene practices for laboratory operations. This includes development, implantation and monitoring of the laboratory chemical hygiene program.
- Conducts and/or leads hazard assessment for all lab procedures and industrial hygiene assessments for new laboratory operations or operations using new chemicals.
- Develops and leads observation based safety program for the laboratory with integration into project safety requirements.
- Develops, leads and coordinates monitoring trend evaluation group discussions designed to analyze complex data and provide focused interpretive metrics to correlate plant operations with low level agent monitoring in accordance with defined objectives.
- Leads and coordinates presentation of results to clients, regulators, stakeholders, and in public forums. Participates in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increases company visibility through publications, as necessary.
- Builds relationships with internal and external clients.
- Supports development of laboratory safety technical scope of reach back and project specific proposals. Identifies required staffing, materials, equipment and schedule elements necessary to execute work. Maintains successful, ongoing business development efforts and plays a lead role in identifying, cultivating, and capturing major business opportunities, as project time allows.
- Trains, mentors and leads junior technical staff in all areas of laboratory and industrial safety practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety degree, or equivalent with five (5) years of safety related experience with two (2) years of environmental safety and health experience, required.
- Demonstrated knowledge applicable Code of Federal Regulations for laboratory operations and industrial hygiene/or OSHA Process Safety Management and System Safety is required.
- Strong PC skills which may include database entry/management (Windows OS, Access, MS Office Suite).
- Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
- May require a 50 hr work week.
- Must be a US citizen. Subject to a government security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position.
- Subject to qualification in accordance with Army Regulation 50-6, for placement in the U.S. Army Chemical personnel Reliability Program (CPRP).
- Drug-free workplace which requires random drug and alcohol testing.
- Work near or with toxic and hazardous materials and requires ability to wear protective clothing/mask.
- Covid-19 vaccination required.
