POSITION SUMMARY: Perform waived and specific moderately complex laboratory tests, limited to the scope of competency under the supervision of licensed Medical Technologists and/or Medical Laboratory Technicians. Clerical and administrative assistance in the laboratory to assigned section(s) of the laboratory while working under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. Collection of blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients by venipuncture or capillary puncture perform specimen labeling, handling, computer data entry, sample preparation, preservation, processing and/or transportation and storage. # JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum Required:#High School Diploma (or equivalent). # Experience: Minimum Required:#6-12 months in a healthcare setting Preferred:#Clinical laboratory experience # License/Certification: Minimum Required:#BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from American Heart Association. Louisiana License as Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Assistant Trainee. *Must acquire Trainee License during initial probationary period. Must obtain License within the first 1-year employment and maintain annually thereafter. Preferred:#Successful completion of a nationally recognized certification examination # Special Skills/Training: Minimum Required:#Basic computer skills. Must understand basic medical terminology. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:

Minimum Required: High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Experience:

Minimum Required: 6-12 months in a healthcare setting

Preferred: Clinical laboratory experience

License/Certification:

Minimum Required: BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from American Heart Association. Louisiana License as Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Assistant Trainee.
