JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Loan Closing is responsible for management and supervision of the LCA (Loan Closing Administration) team whose core functions are: pipeline management, credit due diligence, lending authority verification, and document preparations.
This position provides oversight and implementation of compliance with all loan documentation and legal risk management policies, guidelines and procedures and regulatory requirements.
The manager works closely with Bankers, Portfolio Manager, CCA, SVP/Credit Underwriting personnel, Legal Counsel, Risk Management team and other bank personnel; all with a focus to providing excellent service to our clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes and manages the daily activities of the service area to supervise the verification that all loans are processed in accordance with established regulations, bank policies, and secondary market processing guidelines. Adheres to all State and Federal Banking Regulations.
- Serve as a standard loan documentation subject matter expert. This position will have access to Lawyer Pro for making edits in LaserPro documentation, as approved by Legal Counsel Banking.
- Develop and maintain work flows for all stages of the loan preparation process and/or attorney engagements including document receipt, due diligence, to release of loan documentation for closing.
- Works closely with bankers, underwriters and CCAs to promote communication, and to ensure quality service delivery throughout the bank, as well as with external customers.
- Assist in the preparation responses for examiners, external or internal auditors and make corrections, as necessary.
- Develops and maintains staffing model for resource allocations
- Oversees and supports a performance management culture by creating tracking, monitoring and reporting service levels and error rates in the service area through effective plans, documentation, and assessments for all associates.
- Financial management for the departments, including expense control.
- Risk management; maintain a satisfactory system of internal control and ensure SOX compliance.
- Works closely with our business partners (Technology, Legal, Compliance, Credit Admin., & HR) to collaborate and address changes, issues, and needs.
- Manages the development and documentation of procedures operational changes which affect service units. Ensures that all applicable associates are knowledgeable of the processes and procedures.
- Interacts with the Lines of Business, Technology, and/or vendors, as necessary, to coordinate, test, and implement system or operational related enhancements
- Oversees the research and resolution of documentation and compliance exceptions
- Performs detailed workflow analysis of each function as part of ongoing process improvement effort
- Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise several employees in the specific areas in the division, is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units, directly supervises some non-supervisory employees, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or combination of equivalent education and experience
- 8+ years of experience in overall commercial loan documentation and supervision. Preferred experience with both LaserPro and attorney-drafted loans.
- Experience in a Loan Administration and Closing Operations environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-task in a high-volume work flow with multiple priorities, interruptions, and possible short-term deadlines.
- Experience with commercial and consumer loan documentation is strongly preferred.
- Must possess strong analytical, process and people skills.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to work proactively and operate accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with variable deadlines.
- Additional work experiences in a customer service-related function preferred.
