Job description
Vision Technologies is a full-service IT/IP integration company for commercial enterprise and federal clients. Solutions include: Design, engineering, installation and support services of network infrastructure (fiber/copper cabling), audio visual systems, electronic security, network route/switch engineering, WiFi, Public Safety and Cellular Distributed Antenna Systems and professional/managed services.
PURPOSE and CHARGE
The Controller guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. This key member of the team will report directly to the CFO and protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing robust, efficient internal controls. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; leads external audit process. Provides analyses and information to support business growth.
Vision's controller is the head of the accounting department and has hands-on responsibility for the company's financial statements, GL, Reporting, Budgeting, Treasury, Inventory and Procurement controls, Job Cost, Payroll, AP, AR, tax compliance, and various special analyses. This person will manage all aspects of daily, monthly, and annual financial activities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, improving, and enforcing policies and procedures
- Protects assets and mitigate risk by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
- Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits, providing information to external auditors
- Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances, making investments
- Prepares budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, recommending plans
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data and KPI's
- Supports strategic decision making with special reports, collecting, analyzing, responding, and summarizing information and trends
- Complies with federal, state, and jurisdictional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, advising management on needed actions
- Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results
- Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualifications:
- Four Year College Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- 7-10+ years of Controller and management experience
- Systems and systems implementation experienced required
- Proficiency with current GAAP and standards
- Proficient with financial tools including trending and forecasting/modeling
- Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools, in particular Excel
- Ability to multitask and manage people and deadlines
- Confidence and ability to work with peers and executive management
