Tanaq Technical Services (TTS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TTS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation (SGT), an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.
About the Role
Tanaq Technical Services is looking for a Senior Director, Government IT Programs, who is the key management leader of an SGT Business Unit (BU) and is responsible for overseeing program administration and the TTS strategic plan. The ideal candidate will have experience building market positions in agencies like The National Institutes of Health (NIH), The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and The Defense Health Agency (DHA). This is seasoned and innovative leader with deep knowledge of the federal information technology landscape, has a strong operational skillset, and significant management experience.
Responsibilities
- Leadership: Provide leadership for the organization's continued growth, success, and sustainability. Will share and be a model of the company's vision, mission, values, as well as foster the organization's culture. Develop and oversee innovative ideas and initiatives for expansion in line with the strategic plan.
- Strategic Growth Plan: Shape the business unit's future strategic direction and transformation by identifying new business markets, agencies, teaming opportunities, and partnerships. Develop and sustain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Build Market Position: Overall responsibility for generating measurable returns to grow the company. Identify, develop, define, and strengthen key business relationships. Achieve acquisition and sales goals through winning new business, contract recompetes, teaming, and organic program growth.
- Operations Execution: Responsible for daily operations of the business unit. Effectively manage the planning, budgeting, program execution, quality assurance, employee development and recruitment, and other fiscal, administrative, and infrastructure tasks.
- Customer Management: Build relationships through effective communications. Consult potential customers by demonstrating solutions, architectures, capabilities, and potential acquisition paths for early-stage opportunities. Lead technical and program management teams to develop responses for proposals, white papers, presentations, briefings, and other types of events.
Required Experience and Skills
- Previous experience with a Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) company, preferably an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC), Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) or Indian Tribe.
- 15+ years related work experience with a minimum of 10+ years related to full life-cycle federal health business development contracting with multiple organizations (i.e., NIH, CMS, DHA, HHS, FDA).
- Candidate living in close radius to the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and/or National Capital Region preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout the organization.
- 5 + years with Profit & Loss responsibility.
- Adept at working in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment.
Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 15 years of experience in government contracting or equivalent is required; Master's degree in a business-related field or MBA is preferred.
