Description/Job Summary

Position Summary

The Business Analyst V drives the product direction of complex software engineering projects. The projects may range from a single complex application to a group of interrelated applications. Oversees work of other Business Analysts to review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs. Guides level I-IV Business Analysts in business process reengineering to improve efficiency of the client/customer with IT solutions. Sets standards for the documentation of functional requirements, project planning, and coordination with development, QA, and IT operations groups. Works with higher levels of management in the client/customer group to understand long-term goals and strategies. May create product roadmaps and work with GCE management, IT architects, and senior developers to drive successful execution. Work may apply to the development of new complex applications or to existing complex applications. Assists in all phases of software systems programming applications. Drives the evaluation of new and existing 3 rd party software products. May directly supervise Business Analysts in management role. A wide degree of creativity, flexibility, and latitude is expected.

Role Requirements

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education Requirement:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field (may substitute equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience in business analysis
    • Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in IT
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with the following software languages:
    • SQL
    • Java
    • JavaScript
    • XML
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Solid knowledge of relational database concepts and client-server concepts
    • Strong knowledge of Use Case development and analysis
    • Strong knowledge of best practices for developing documentation including, but not limited to, Unified Modeling Language (UML)
    • Strong familiarity with different software testing processes
    • Strong Ability to work with senior levels of management, client executives, and client representatives
    • Demonstrated competency in communicating with program stakeholders.
    • Mastery of documenting functional specifications, requirements traceability matrices, requirements , and other documents.
    • Self-starter and independent learner capable of performing complex work with minimal guidance.
    • Strong knowledge of risk management as pertains to business process improvement, project schedules, and technical risks.
    • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a public trust clearance or higher.
