Job description

Southwest Foodservice Excellence is seeking an experienced Business Development professional with experience selling in the K-12 sector.


The Director of Business Development role is a high-level sales position that focuses on the food service needs of school districts. He/she will call on C-Level business executives in the K-12 community (Business Managers, Superintendents, and School Boards.) The successful candidate will be the lead voice in driving productivity and profitability to achieve set sales targets and drive sustainable, profitable growth aligned to the strategic business plan.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Decision maker in the entire sales process, including but not limited to: Prospect identifying, Prospect qualifying, Prospect contacting, Territory marketing and development, Proposal development and delivery, Closing and contract negotiations
  • Attend and lead tradeshow/presentation efforts; Report, track, and maintain all tradeshow leads and contact information
  • Provide support with operations including resale support when needed
  • Lead voice in generating, cultivating, and fostering relationships with key school business officials
  • Manage and track sales activities through CRM software (Salesforce)
  • Schedule and organize presentations, pre-bid conferences, and conference calls


Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent industry experience required
  • Minimum of five years of documented success in B2B or outside sales with existing relationships in the K-12 market
  • Effective demonstration of sales process/methodology: identify buying criteria, eliminate objections, and develop solutions
  • Computer skills including Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Publisher
  • Experience with Salesforce & InDesign Software experience preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in multiple territories
  • Excellent writing, listening, communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical ability to develop financial proformas, P&L's and manage an overhead budget
  • Identification of prospects and discipline to develop markets: relationship builder with understanding of long-term, complex sales cycle
  • Travel required, up to 75%, remote position
