Job description

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will play a central role in upgrading and modernizing the Business Intelligence Reporting and Analytic Environment. The analyst will lead the requirements, testing, change management operations of the Enterprise solutions.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Implementation:

  • Coordinate and ensure compliance with all Contractual and Regulatory Reporting requirement
  • Coordinate and oversee all Business Intelligence activities related to New Business Implementations (NBIs)
  • Act as principle liaison with business operations and client service representatives in support of business intelligence related activities
  • Act as principle liaison between business and technical development team in support of technical solution development, compliance and adherence
  • Completion of client requirement documents (CRD) to accurately reflect contract and regulatory requirements
  • Presentation of CRD content to client services representative (or client as needed). Coordinate revisions of reporting business requirements documents to align with CRD.
  • Develop business specification documents and data dictionaries in support of Enterprise compliance
  • Develop Report libraries, KPIs and Metric Catalog using Enterprise tools to ensure Data Governance
  • Research data integration and data quality issues, respond to business inquiries, analyze reasons for failure, identify optimization and process improvement opportunities, revise procedures and documentation as necessary
  • Design and test highly complex BI solutions on our Enterprise Reporting systems (SSRS, Power BI, Cognos)
  • Perform data validation, error checking, troubleshooting, performance tuning and regression testing ensuring our data/reporting environments are in sync

External Audits:

  • Represent Business Intelligence in Compliance & Regulatory Audits. Act as a backup for the BI Development Manager, as necessary.
  • Manage efforts relating to external audits to carry forth quality audit documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Draft corrective action plan (CAP) responses required as a result of external audit findings related to Business Intelligence.
  • Assist the Operations Compliance Manager with drafting, reviewing or revising polices, business and technical requirement documents relating to the development lifecycle and final reporting product.

General

  • Communicate compliance risks to the BI Development Manager as they are identified for operations
  • Attends additional training as requested/deemed necessary
  • Other duties as needed or required.

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent business discipline experience
  • 4+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in an analyst position
  • Understanding of reporting systems and development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence applications (SSRS, Power BI, Cognos, Business Objects)
  • Knowledge of CMS, HEDIS, NCQA regulatory reporting standards
  • Experience working with/on a technical development team
  • Ability to gather requirements, research alternatives and analyze data so as to develop insightful conclusions and generate solutions to address user needs
  • Ability to create written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations for presentation to senior management
  • Ability to drive data quality assurance and coordinate user acceptance testing by writing test plans and managing the execution of testing (Unit and UAT)
  • Exceptionally self-motivated, self-directed, and able to maintain focus in a rapidly changing environment
  • Highly organized and able to communicate in detail as well as abstractions
  • Experience with technical writing, design spec documentation, risk/issue management or tracking

Preferred:

  • Insurance/Claims Processing and process improvement experience a plus
