Job description
Purpose Statement The Manager, Underwriting develops, plans and implements processes for creating profitable loan assets for the organization, in compliance with approved policies and procedure. S/he ensures these are done in conjunction with specific strategies set forth by Senior Management. The Manager, SB Direct is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Direct to SB underwriting application completion and package preparation for the underwriting team achieving high client and branch satisfaction with engagements throughout the process Responsibility Statements Resolves problematic issues and guide lending personnel in making sound decisions. Creates high quality underwriting package, including both direct and indirect lending channels. Reviews and analyzes key analytics that will help predict consumer trends. Assists in updating guidelines, identifying process improvements, participating on project teams that will help achieve optimal results. Develops, documents and sustains effective service processes within the department. Proactively suggests and implements process improvements as needed. Reviews individual underwriter and product analytics with each underwriter and implements changes to decision-making based on these analytics. Helps structure loan proposals while providing the highest quality member service. Reviews loan application files to verify the data meets organization, investor and regulatory guidelines. Drives effective relationships with branch partners, the SB Virtual Advisors team and clients, as appropriate. Manages team of SB Direct associates. Education Education Level Education Details Req or Pref Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field Req W Work Experience 5-9 years; Financial analysis, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management. Skills and Abilities Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, members, and general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as profitability and statistical inference.
