LISH is a Harvard-wide research program led by faculty co-directors Karim Lakhani and Marco Iansiti, Harvard Business School; Eva Guinan, Harvard Medical School; and David Parkes, Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. We are an interdisciplinary research lab that is focused on developing a science of innovation through the application of quantitative and field experimental methods on innovation problems faced by our partners (NASA, Harvard Medical School, Linux Foundation, and various other institutions and corporations).
Job-Specific Responsibilities

As the lab continues to grow, this position will work with the research team to identify on-going support to researchers, particularly around the development of the Open Source Software Network. This individual will lead significant portions of the research activities, which includes identification of issues through consultation with partner organizations, organizing and working network meetings, and managing the execution of the work plans.

The Program Manager will work under the direct supervision of an Assistant Director and will collaborate with LISH Director, HBS faculty, staff, postdocs, and students on the creation, design, and implementation of research projects. Candidate must be willing to work with a dynamic team of researchers with competing demands. LISH is looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or new perspectives.

Duties will include:

  • Managing engagements and assisting with ongoing communications with and reporting to funders and partners on both new issues and status of issues.
  • Organizing and running research network convenings of researchers (academic) and practitioners (industry) around research topics.
  • Coordinating and tracking research tasks and deliverables with the lab's academic partners and faculty both internally at Harvard (HBS, HMS, SEAS) and at other research institutions. Managing the execution of research at field sites or through virtual platforms including experiments and surveys.
  • Participating in collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, research papers, manuscripts, progress reports, articles, or other documents for publication and/or presentation.
  • Writing research and white papers based on findings.
  • Managing various reviews of research protocols; including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), data use agreements (DUA), and data security application process with LISH researchers.
  • Responsible for writing monthly and quarterly reports to funding agencies. Participating in writing pre-award proposals with the Director. Monitoring timelines and budgets, collaborating with the finance team.
  • Overseeing the research assistants and students working on research projects for the lab.
  • Conducting internal and external meetings with the various program participants to facilitate communication and determine status.
  • Supporting the PIs and management team with meeting arrangements, travel, equipment purchases, and reimbursements.
  • Supporting communications for the lab.
  • Other duties as needed.
