Job description

Beam is seeking a highly motivated flow cytometry scientist to work closely with the Non Viral Delivery (LNP) discovery team. The successful scientist will report to the Associate Director of Flow Cytometry and they will support the evaluation of novel LNPs for the delivery of nucleic acid cargos across multiple tissues. They will be responsible for performing flow cytometry and FACS, as well as develop novel flow assays to improve our understanding of cell-type targeting by LNPs. This position will work closely with multiple research teams and require excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Responsible for design and execution of flow cytometry-based experiments to support LNP discovery and characterization.
* Lead development of novel multiparametric flow panels across multiple species (including NHPs), organs (including non-immune) and cell-types.
* Responsible for analysis of flow cytometry data and reporting of results.
* Ensure high quality data generation throughout the process through real-time control tracking/charting and proper assay validation and qualification.
* Critically evaluate study data to shape scientific strategy.
* Communicate scientific findings internally and externally in the form of verbal presentations and written reports.
* Mentor junior scientists.

Qualifications:

* PhD. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related discipline with 2 years of experience or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience with 12+ color flow cytometry analysis using Flowjo software.
* Prior experience with different types of flow cytometers (X20, FACSymphony, Aria, and spectral flow cytometer).
* History of strong analytical problem-solving skills, scientific rigor, and attention to detail in experimental design and execution.
* Prior experience across multiple cell types (e.g. primary cells, PBMCs, HSPCs) is preferred.
* Previous experience with LNPs is a plus, but not necessary.
* Track record of independence and leadership.
* Ability to effectively collaborate in a cross-functional environment.
