Summary of Major Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Product Solutions team for the Senior Director, Protein Biomarker Development role. This role will be responsible for leading protein-based analytical assay development in support of developing impactful new diagnostic assays across the Exact Sciences R&D pipeline. The Senior Director, Protein Biomarker Development will be a lead for internal and outsourced projects and collaborate with team members on a cross-functional basis. This position will play a critical role in driving protein biomarker focused assay development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development of protein biomarker assay as part of the earlier detection product and support the transfer of these assays to the clinical testing laboratories.
Lead the evaluation assessment of reagents sources and immunoassay conditions on multiple sample types, such as plasma and serum.
Evaluate novel protein biomarker and protein detection technologies.
Manage protein product development through proof-of-concept, feasibility, development, verification, and validation, in regulated environments.
Drive research and development through internal and external collaborations related to protein discovery and technology evaluation.
Lead and develop a team and improve staff capabilities.
Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
Excellent collaboration, organizational, and documentation skills.
Strong communication skills for the purpose of effective contribution to multi-site collaborations including within the company and with external vendors, CROs, and biopharma.

Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment; including microscopes, microtomes, blades, strainers, and pipettes for extended periods of time.
May perform repetitious actions using lab tools.
Ability to use near vision to view samples at close range.
May be exposed to hazardous materials, tissue specimens, and instruments with moving parts, lasers, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.
Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.
Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, or field as outlined in the essential duties.
15+ years of experience working in an academic or industry lab with a proven track record of developing diagnostic immunoassay methods and utilizing contrived and clinical samples.
Experience managing and mentoring direct reports and working with external vendors or CROs.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical and scientific issues, both individually and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with other protein detection technologies, such as mass spec.
