Associate Manager, Content
The Cape Codder, covering the communities of Brewster, Eastham, Orleans in Massachusetts and part of Gannett Media New England/wickedlocal.com and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a digital-savvy editor to join its staff.
You'll lead by example to ensure news, business and feature stories that matter to the community are reported accurately and fairly for our online platform, social media and print.
We work in a digital-first environment and also publish a weekly print edition. The Cape Codder frequently interacts with other Gannett newsrooms on Cape Cod to produce and share content across the region.
The ideal candidate has strong news judgment; solid leadership, writing and photo skills; and a willingness to be part of the heart of their community. --Ensures web and social media platforms are managed to serve the audience daily.
We're looking for someone who:
--Has a strong grasp of journalism skills, both reporting and editing, and advanced knowledge of writing, spelling, grammar and AP style.
-- Is able to coach both experienced and entry-level reporters to identify topics that will resonate with The Codder's audience, and develop and execute them with clear, complete news articles and video as appropriate.
--Can use analytics to help reporters to identify and focus on issues of interest to the Codder's readers and produce high-engagement content.
--Understands the use of social media to augment news coverage and engage audience.
--Will ensure web and social media platforms are managed to serve the audience daily.
--Will represent the Cape Codder to community leaders and members of the community.
--Has exceptional planning and organizational skills.
Here's what you need:
--Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
--Three or more years of journalism experience.
--Editing experience is preferred, but successful reporters eager for a leadership role will be considered.
