This position is responsible for the maintenance of all equipment and buildings utilized by the company. Manages a team of Facilities Technicians, Tradesman and Document Specialists to ensure that all equipment is maintained to within required specifications and work is compliant with current QSR requirements. Assures employee work meets QA compliance requirements, that all tasks are completed to schedule and problems are resolved in an efficient and effective manner. Ensures SOP's are accurate and being followed as well as training for Facilities department is accomplished on time. Manages vendors and ensures projects for upgrades to equipment and utilities do not adversely affect Manufacturing or Labs. Ensures projects and maintenance are performed to budget.
Responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the support systems for the manufacturing facility and ensuring that all manufacturing equipment is operational and developing strategies to prevent adverse events.
Responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment is support areas such as Quality Control Labs, Warehouse, Distribution and other labs. Responsible for managing all activities of building maintenance consisting of heating, ventilating, and cooling systems, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, refrigeration, fire protection, contracted physical plant operations, and building instrumentation.
This individual is responsible to ensure all contractor work related to manufacturing, support and Facilities equipment is properly supervised and follows all applicable Standard Operating Procedures and meet QSR requirements.
Develops specifications and procedures for the Maintenance operations.
Develops a workflow process with other central service organizations. Executes needs assessment for department and end users.
Develops the plant operations budget including projections of anticipated work and materials for general building maintenance and bids for contract services.
Responsible for special projects as directed by supervisor.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Facilities Development. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervise outside contractors to ensure work meets QSR requirements and does not adversely affect manufacturing or lab operations. May also supervise temporary or part-time employees as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A B.S. in Plant Engineering or Facilities Management with 5 years of experience in a Plant
Engineering role or equivalent or at least 10 years' experience managing Facilities activities and 6-8 years hands-on mechanical experience. Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or industrial setting is preferred. This position requires excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, proficient computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Other skill sets include: QSR requirements; Scheduling and planning maintenance activities, Project management; Calibration requirements; HVAC, Clean Rooms, High Purity Gas & Water Systems; Strong customer service skills; Strong problem solving skills; Ability to manage technically skilled work force and strong negotiation skills.
