As a company that made an overnight pivot prompted by the pandemic, we are in the process of amassing a team of creative, versatile, and like-minded people who know what it takes to bring a new diagnostic product market and who are driven by a deep-seated passion/drive to make a difference. This division is expanding its assay development team responsible for the development of a novel class of diagnostic assays based on detection of pathogen-related enzyme activities in clinical samples. We are seeking experienced assay development scientists to help us build and validate these assays as we take our technology into the clinic. This role will be primarily laboratory-based.
Key responsibilities:
- Development and experimentation to drive innovation of assays for clinical diagnostic testing
- Verification and validation of novel assays and reagents for clinical diagnostic testing
- Analysis and interpretation of data and results
- Cross functional collaboration with team members in a multidisciplinary environment
- Execute SOPs and assist in writing reports
- Training others to perform validated assays
- Detailed data recording using an electronic scientific notebook
- Presenting results to the internal scientific team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong basic science background
- Experience in basic lab techniques (Academia acceptable, experience with pipetting in academic setting)
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with strong attention to detail
- Experience with virology and/or pathogens is a plus
- Can-do attitude to problem-solving using novel approaches
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in biology, chemistry or similar discipline in addition to industry/academia lab experience (1+ years)
Experience in the Following Areas is Desirable:
- Assay development & optimization
- Experience with clinical samples (saliva, nasal swabs and sputum)
- Diagnostic validation and verification
- Execution of SOPs & IFUs
- Quality management systems
- Reagent manufacturing & quality control
- Previous experience with ISO 13485
