Research Associate- Process Development
Permanent Position- Natick, MA 01760
Core Skills:
+ Chemical Engineering and Microbiology background
+ Experience running shake flask for microbial process development.
+ Run reactors, aseptic technique, pipettes, running experiments, analyzing data and trend. Familiar with design of experiments (DOE), process development, fermentation and handle microbes. Bioprocess experience preferred but not required
+ Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Microbiology or Chemical Engineering
About the company:
+ Lab is growing exponentially, and they are launching a new product. They are looking for a candidate who will contribute to the process development/optimization work.
About the position:
+ Conducting microbial culture work at shake flask to benchtop bioreactor level with sterile techniques. Microbial culture maintenance including cell banking/ cryopreservation
+ Contribute to experimental design and execution of the fermentation process independently with minimal supervision
+ Perform analytics associated with fermentation experiments such as optical density, plate counting etc.
+ Conducting experiments with meticulous record keeping of protocols, data and observations through use of the scientific ELN
+ Critically analyze data and present results to the team
+ Developing and refining SOPs as needed
+ Supporting activities such as media preparation, reagent preparation and plating
Required Skills:
+ Proficiency in microbiological culture and aseptic techniques is must
+ Demonstrated expertise in microbiology and familiarity with microbial process development work
+ Basic understanding of analytical methods such as spectrophotometry, biochemical assays and microbiological assays
+ Familiarity with laboratory equipment including biosafety cabinets, laminar hoods, centrifuges, shakers, pH probes etc.
Educational qualification:
+ B.S./M.S. in chemical engineering/biochemical engineering or biological sciences such as biotechnology, microbiology or biochemistry
+ 0-2 Years Work Experience
+ Local candidates within commutable area are preferred.
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience working with bioreactors
+ Understanding of DOE software, data analytics software, graphing software
+ Basic programing skills
