Physical Intervention Trainer

Position Summary:

The Physical Intervention Trainer is responsible for providing initial and recertification trainings for staff members, using a prescribed physical intervention training curriculum. Staff members being trained work with children with autism and other developmental disabilities. The training curriculum reviews how to prevent, de-escalate, and respond to behaviors in order to keep students and staff safe. Applicants interested in a full time position will be responsible for miscellaneous operational tasks as well.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and professionally
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Follow the prescribed training curriculum
  • Train groups of 2-12 staff members
  • Train as a single trainer or within a co-trainer model
  • Model physical movements for trainees
  • Provide trainees with immediate feedback
  • Complete required paperwork (e.g, feedback forms, training rosters)
  • Attend quarterly trainer meetings
  • Provide consultation on student-specific physical intervention as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • Knowledge of body mechanics a plus
  • Training experience preferred
  • Complete an initial Trainee Certification course
  • Complete an initial 1 week Trainer Certification course
  • Complete an annual Trainer Re-certification training
  • Physically able to provide trainings as prescribed
  • Maintain CPR/FA certification
  • Minimum of a 1 year commitment

Schedule/Location:

  • Most trainings will be provided in the Natick/Framingham area with the possibility of some trainings within the Woburn area
  • Training needs vary month-to-month, but an average of one certification training (20 hours) and one re-certification (4 hours) training occur per month.
  • Trainings take place Monday-Friday during the 7am - 3pm time
  • Responsibilities related to the physical intervention training can be completed within a part time work schedule. Additional responsibilities are available for candidates interested in a full time position

Compensation:

  • Hourly pay commensurate with experience
