Position Description Job SummarySaint-Gobain's North American R&D center is looking for a driven, talented, and experienced R&D professional to lead our local team in conducting research for the parent businesses, developing technical base, and formulating strategy for future research within the group. You are the head of Aerospace Numerical Engineering Team based in Northborough, MA which is a shared team, supporting Aerospace topics as well Composites solutions.Projects will focus on improvement of products, user experience of internal design offices and related process monitoring/improvement Saint-Gobain extensive product line. including Aerospace, Films and Fabrics and tapes solutions.As a Group Leader, the candidate will be expected to effectively lead cross functional teams by managing others to execute and deliver project objectives. The candidate will be expected to lead R&D projects in the areas of product development, application technology and digital tools for R1D and commercial teams, collaborate effectively with R&D colleagues, product managers, product engineers, application engineers, external partners and external customers, discuss, create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats. Candidate is also expected to play a role in proposing projects and programs to the R&D and to the business leadership. Further the candidate will be responsible for developing direct reports and others within group. Is the managerial entry point for connecting team to Businesses and other R&D centers. Develops a broad vision across two main businesses enforcing scientific and tools synergies. Utilizes broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, processes, and performance and/or reduce costs within a major product area. Stays aware of new technology applications and competitive uses of same in work with materials, products and processes, and in development of new knowledge and applies this to personal research/ products. Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making. Propose support and expertise from the team to the other business functions engaged in business projects. Able to communicate technically with internal competencies, university collaborators and customers and leverage knowledge to advance projects and identify productive synergies. Required to develop assigned employees and self to fullest potential. Submits proposals and takes decision on IP in agreement with upper management and business Is seen as a technical leader by others. Be able to fill in standard deliverables for project management through interactions with internal contacts outside of R&DCompetencies Demonstrated ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Demonstrate ability to network within and out of group. Respectful communication and ability to collaborate in an international teams environment required. Demonstrate ability to function seamlessly in a business environment, interfacing and taking an active role in business project that may not have a predominant technical focus. Demonstrate understanding of company policies. Demonstrate understanding of corporate structure.Required Qualifications BS Degree with a minimum of 15+ years' experience, or MS with 10+ years of experience, or PhD with 6+ years' experience in Mechanical Engineering, Modelling in physics plus demonstrated technical judgement/accomplishments, project leadership, team collaboration, and oral and written communication skills. Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to: demonstration of familiarity with one or several of the following technical fields: Mechanics (theoretical and experimental), Modeling, FEA, Adhesion, Aerospace, Composite, Digital tools development at the architectural level.
