Position Description Job SummarySaint-Gobain Research North America is looking for driven, talented, and energetic entry level researchers to join our current team in conducting hands-on laboratory experiments for key development programs. Projects will focus on supporting critical fluoropolymer applications in the Bioprocess Solutions team. As a Research Engineer, the candidate will research and develop new technologies to improve processes and products within our business. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes into manufacturing. The candidate will take project objectives and transform them in to actionable tasks including research of technologies, design and execution of experimentation, analysis of results, and generation of IP and technical reports. This position will have a focus on research and development in all aspects of the group's technical area with specific focus on applications where fluoropolymers are used. Under the direction of the group leader, the candidate will also design, run experiments, produce lab scale samples, operate pilot equipment, and analyze the experimental outcomes. In addition to designing experiments for the candidate's primary projects, the candidate will be expected to conduct experiments to support projects led by others. This will be done by: Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve on product performance to reduce costs, to maximize production, and to support new knowledge research. Manages and documents projects effectively under minimal supervision by a technical leader. Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. Able to develop and manage the development of lab projects related to new tests pertinent to the goals and direction of the group Understands Gate Process methodology/ideology and utilizes and incorporates it in research projects Required Qualifications BS Degree with a minimum of 3+ years' experience, or an entry level candidate with a MS degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry or other related disciplines. Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to: demonstration of familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation. Incumbent analyzes and reports results using statistical tools and analytical data of medium complexity. Demonstrated good knowledge in HSE.
