The Business Development Manager supports PDL's Media Partnerships team's efforts to deliver on aggressive revenue targets. They accomplish this by helping develop commercial strategy and driving initial growth (including direct sales) for owned & operated and emerging media channels. They are both entrepreneurial and an all-purpose talent, with a unique ability to work with a diverse array of functional partners. On one end they are working with the Advertising Technology team to manage go-to-market plans for implementing new or improving media products. On the other end they are working with the Media Partnerships team to educate, collaborate and fuel sales growth in preparation to hand off a formed, operational business to internal and agency sales teams.
As a big thinker with ideas to share, they also participate in monetization strategy efforts, helping to compile presentations, white papers, and other materials to inform, clarify and fortify the role of monetization plays in a modern retail business model.
They support the Strategy & Operations Lead in managing and coordinating efforts to grow the internal and external brand equity of PDL Media. They are effective communicators both in writing and speaking, with a special emphasis on serving as a liaison and advocate for retail media in all settings.
Recipe for Success - What's "in store" for the role
- Executes and influences monetization revenue & growth strategy
- Manages the implementation of the media monetization commercialization model with new and emerging media channels
- Drives commercial success of new, in pilot and emerging media channels through direct sales to vendors, campaign management and other related tasks
- Conducts project management efforts to support continuous improvement efforts for the monetization team
- Participates in and supports contract management efforts for media agency and service vendors in partnership with legal department
- Partners with eCommerce and Shopper Marketing teams at local brands to understand strategies and mitigate concern/redundancy between local and scale monetization efforts
- Supports efforts to expand external and internal equity, credibility, and strength of PDL's scale media group
- Utilizes vendor summits, industry events / speaking engagements and other public relations initiatives to drive greater awareness and adoption of retail media solutions
- Manages the development of media kits, playbooks, and other sales collateral in partnership with Media Partnerships team
- Conducts project management efforts to support continuous improvement efforts for the monetization team
The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients
- 5-7 years of experience managing retail, IT, or similar projects, preferably involving media or marketing channels
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in management consulting, project management, strategy development or direct media sales
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred
