Job description

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

The Human Resources and Payroll Manager handles the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources and Payroll department for 375 employees. This position is hands-on, requiring technical proficiency and experience in an automotive setting. This role, which reports directly to the owners, oversees all HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, enforcement of Policies and Procedures and compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage HR Department
  • Process weekly payroll using Paychex.
  • Manage Employee Relations Issues
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, including (but not limited to) OSHA, EEO-1 Reporting, FMLA, MA PFML, and unemployment reporting.
  • Manage and maintain employee insurance benefits enrollment process, including open enrollment, change and termination reporting, monitoring and approval of invoices, communication of information to employees along with our benefit broker.
  • Handle all Worker's Compensation claims.
  • Serve as Plan Administrator for the 401K retirement plan.
  • Manage on-boarding process of new hires, including drafting and sending contracts, processing paperwork in Paychex, running background checks, etc.
  • Manage background checks (CORI & RMV) for all employees.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and other relevant information.
  • Handle employment verifications.
  • Responsible for the revision of Employee Handbook.

Qualifications:

  • Automotive Dealership Experience preferred.
  • Experience using a HRIS system, Paychex knowledge preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business or other related field preferred or 2-5 years job experience.
  • Strong verbal, listening and writing skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate and build professional relationships with a diverse employee population.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Attention to details and initiative in improving HR processes.
  • Ability to handle employee issues and resolve.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Springfield, MA 01104: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

  • Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Automotive Dealership: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Human resources: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Preferred)
