The Director, Bike MS will drive engagement and revenue generation and lead the implementation of the operational plan for Bike MS in multiple markets. The Director will manage a staff team and work closely with event production and volunteer engagement teams to ensure excellent event experience. This position will collaborate with market leaders, key volunteers, and board members to reach revenue goals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Drive Bike MS revenue and participation (70% of time):

  • Develop market specific tactics for increasing engagement, registration, and fundraising through consistent metrics analysis and leadership of Revenue Performance meetings.
  • Drive key strategies by organizing volunteers, staff, and participants during critical periods of the campaign.
  • Responsible for portfolio oversight including the creation of strong and balanced portfolios across the staff as well as ensuring consistent use of relationship management tools and collaboration through relationship management teams.
  • Manage and grow revenue and engagement of assigned relationship portfolio.
  • Ensure highest level of event experience by working in collaboration with event production and volunteer engagement to determine event dates, locations, and components within the plan that can be highlighted or enhanced on event day.
  • Engage market leaders in Bike MS budgeted revenue assessments and revenue growth planning.
  • Implement processes that enable rapid adoption of successful tactics into the assigned event revenue portfolio.
  • Other duties as assigned

Facilitate Volunteer Engagement for fundraising and event experience in the assigned event revenue portfolio (10%)
  • Engage volunteers through meaningful and impactful work that is well defined and structured by employing the strategies, tools and resources in their local market.
  • Identify, develop and grow volunteer capacity to achieve measurable and sustainable results while removing obstacles.
  • Ensures volunteer behaviors are aligned with Society Operating Principles; provide timely feedback and coaching to improve performance and behaviors.

Provides Leadership/Supervision and expertise as part of the Bike MS Team responsible for achieving revenue goals (20%)
  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and continued development of direct reports
  • Conduct regular check-ins to monitor progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance and support where needed to ensure staff is fully supported in their role
  • Ensures staff have the tools, knowledge, and resources necessary to perform job duties effectively as well as opportunities for professional development
  • Coach and collaborate on goal-setting and professional development plans and conduct formal and informal performance conversations
  • Hold staff accountable to the cultural values of the organization and ensure they follow Society operating principles
  • In partnership with staff, develop and monitor individualized professional development plans, creating capacity and opportunities for growth while removing obstacles.

Estimated hiring range for this role is $66,000 - $80,000. Final offers will be based on candidategeographic location and consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience/Competencies:
  • Bachelor's Degree; relevant years of directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 6 + years related experience including 2 years in a management position; nonprofit experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable of development best practices
  • Goal driven, innovative, and confident
  • Strategic relationship builder able to gain trust and credibility both internally and externally
  • Ability to analyze metrics and adjust plans based on the data
  • Ability to motivate and lead staff and volunteers holding them accountable to results
  • Strong collaborator - seeks diverse opinions and input while building consensus

Technical:
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency
  • Ability to use Reporting Tools and Society platforms (Donor Drive, Teams)
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required to support events
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, cultural values, and expectations of the National MS Society
  • This position will be required to drive/travel on Society business. Candidate must possess a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation. The Society does run motor vehicle checks for all positions which require driving and the applicant must meet the Society guidelines.
