Job description

The Sample Management business unit of Evotec, a drug discovery solutions international organization, offers a range of services to help organizations build, grow, and/or manage small molecule collections to the highest quality in support of high throughput biological screening. Our facility is home to sample collections owned by governmental, not-for-profit, and commercial organizations. Our experience managing the U.S NIH's Molecular Libraries Small Molecule Repository (MLSMR) as well as sample collections owned by academic and commercial organizations allow us to deliver optimal solutions for this critical function.

Description

Evotec (US) Inc. has a Sample Management Lab Technician position available, located in a sample management department at a client facility in the Waltham/Cambridge, MA area. The position entails following a specific set of guidelines to weigh, transfer and record chemical samples. More specifically, the individual will prepare vials and tubes, place them in a chemical hood on an analytical balance, and transfer material into the vials or tubes using spatulas and pipettes and record the results. The balance will be connected to a computer that will collect the weights as they are measured. Responsible for general compound management services including but not limited to: the day to day tasks of Sample Submission Lab, Screen File Build, robotics, validation, and overall laboratory maintenance.

The samples may be potentially hazardous. Safety glasses, lab coats and gloves will be required while working. Client site specific training, automation, computers and any other material will be provided in support of sample management activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use of analytical balances, fume hoods and weighing enclosures, liquid handling instruments, and basic chemical handling procedures to process orders according to departmental timelines
  • Data handling, inventory tracking, accurate record keeping, shipping processes, and following the clients Standard Operating Procedures for assigned tasks


Desired Qualifications:
  • Chemical lab experience; pharmaceutical/biotechnology lab experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to follow specific instructions and written protocols
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and within a team, identify and resolve problems with minimal supervision
  • Keep accurate records, works safely, and completes work on schedule
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs., sit or stand in front of a hood for an 8 hour shift and stay on task for entire shift (with exception of meal and rest breaks)
  • Experience using Titian's Mosaic compound management software platform is desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite.


Education and experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with scientific discipline and 1-2 years experience.
