Overview:

Altarum is pleased to announce an opening for a Health IT Business Analyst to join our Interoperability Team. Health IT Business Analysts are responsible for supporting the design, development and implementation of health information technology solutions within the Division of Connected Health. This person will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including product developers, clinicians, and analysts both internal and external to Altarum.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and document business processes, workflows and use cases for system design and health information exchange
  • Observe and document current workflows and processes to fuel the creation of business requirements
  • Work with technical staff to translate business requirements into functional requirements and specifications
  • Plan and facilitate functional design sessions, project briefings, and status reviews
  • Work with project managers to identify and document technical tasks
  • Develop testing, validation and implementation plans and processes
  • Perform quality assurance analysis on HL7 V2 and CDAs messages and documents
  • Perform research on national interoperability standards and vocabularies
  • Perform data mapping and data translations from local codes to national standards (SNOMED, LOINC)
  • Create and maintain system design and operational procedure documentation
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors: Computer Information Systems, Health Information Technology, Public Health Informatics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of clinical terminologies such as SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, and ICD-10
  • Knowledge of interfaces/data sharing standards such as HL7 V2, CDA and FHIR
  • Knowledge of common healthcare workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources
  • Demonstrated ability to produce requirements documents, develop use cases and process flow charts, create presentations, and to capture, track and report statistical data
  • At least 8 years of experience on healthcare related projects developing and documenting technical requirements based on business requirements using interviews, document analysis, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Basic understanding of database structure and queries
  • Basic understanding of automation processes or batch scripting
  • Proven ability to interact directly with clients and effectively understand needs while managing expectations
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Proven ability to effectively work both independently and within a team
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
