Centria Healthcare Autism Services is the largest provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the state of Michigan, with services in other states.Position Overview: The Employee Relations Specialist performs a wide variety of often sensitive and confidential employee relations functions as well as ensures the Human Resources Department is in compliance with all federal, state, local and program requirements. This position is responsible for interpreting and advising on policies and procedures, and courses of action; supporting HR administrative functions. This role conducts cross-functional management training programs as needed and ensure labor law compliance.Responsibilities: The ideal candidate must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.Employee RelationsSupport the design and implementation of human resources policies and programsAct as Subject Matter Expert for Human Resources policies, providing input and guidance to employees of all levels from hourly personnel to executive leadership and other HR professionalsKeep current on all employee-related legislative and regulatory changes and/or developments and ensure changes to rules and regulations are updated with Centria HR policies and standards.Manage, oversee and provide guidance to company leaders regarding resolution of employee complaints.Lead complex HR compliance and employee relations investigations; effectively summarize findings and mitigation opportunities in written reportsDevelop remedial actions, design and deliver trainings pertaining to outcome of investigations; consistently follow up with leadership to ensure sustain resolutions.Liaise closely with Corporate Compliance Team in the management, assessment, and conduct of investigations; review the overall accuracy and completeness of investigationsManage the process of adverse impact analysis for reductions in force (RIF); ensure supporting documentation of non-discriminatory reasons for RIF. Oversee WARN notice process when applicable.Assist Legal, HRBP's and COE leads and interface with external compliance agencies (DOL, OFCCP, etc.) to coordinate investigation and response to discrimination claims and auditsDesign and deliver ad hoc training on any aspects of employment law and leadership skills (i.e. conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, accommodations, LOAS, etc.)Triage employee concerns and travel as needed to conduct investigations with high-risk implicationsAssist with organizational restructures as neededOther HR related duties as needed (i.e. focus groups, exit interviews, etc.)ComplianceDevelop and conduct training to communicate policy and legislative changes to ensure compliance (e.g., audits, 5500s, etc.) with federal and state laws and regulations, and Company policyResponsible for all required postings and reporting relative to the people elements of the organizationLead quarterly policy and procedure audits to ensure HR ComplianceCoordinate information requests and EEOC and agency claimsKnowledgeable on Labor Law in all states of operations, including understand and providing support to the business in evaluating new locationsManage Unemployment Claims process for region in collaboration with vendorPrepare timely and accurate analytical reports on investigation issues and trendsRequired Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience requiredIn addition, minimum five years of Human Resources generalist and/or employee relations experience requiredStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExperience in project management highly preferredExcellent communication skills; experience with management coaching and consultation within all levels of the organizationStrong employee relations, counseling experience and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employeesKnowledge of federal and state employment law and the ability to research and analyze current labor and employment law required, CA specific employment law experience highly preferredTeam-oriented individualManagement experience a plusPHR or SPHR highly preferredPhysical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, physical requirements such as bending, reaching, and lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. This role will require sitting a majority of the day as well as walking as standing when needed.
