Job description
This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Qualifications include an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development/Education or equivalent field of study. Previous childcare experience required. Candidates must have the ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles required; ability and desire to work with children aged 1 - 3 years old; working knowledge of trauma-informed classrooms is a plus. This position requires face-to-face leadership with students and parents.
Required Expectations:
· Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs
· Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
· Be a positive role model for all caregiving staff and children; develop good working relationships with all
· Be customer service orientated and professional; willing to greet and verbally interact with all parents and children
· Provide excellent program service according to the standards of United Methodist Community House
· Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the Center; meet all annual requirements
· Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children in a classroom
· Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual and have minimal absences
Essential Functions include (but are not limited to):
· Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development
· Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use/diapering, tooth brushing, hand washing)
· Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
· Approach parents daily and engage them verbally about their child(ren); provide Daily Report
· Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service
· Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
· Work collaboratively with Teachers and assigned volunteers in the classroom; ensure program policy and customer service expectations are maintained
· Serve as a role model for any Apprentice, Assisting and/or Floating Teachers in the classroom and provide technical assistance for all routine hands-on and administrative duties of care.
· Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children, in collaboration with classroom Teacher(s)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $23.13 per hour
