Buyer / Senior Buyer - Software/Technology
Primary responsibility is to develop and implement Software and Technology sourcing strategies on a global basis by working with cross-functional partners to meet sourcing and cost savings results. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal partners. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a robust Software/SaaS/Cloud strategy based on market and technology trends.
Develop new suppliers in market and guide fundamentals for the automotive industry
Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline and Business Over Time, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget and on-time metrics
Lead global sourcing meetings via teleconference, web meeting, and face to face
Lead meetings with Cross-functional subject areas (Legal, IT Security, Finance)
Develop and execute a business plan to meet business priorities
Support global/regional buyers with resolution of operational issues which needs global leadership engagement
Stay on top of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
Utilize the GPSC sourcing process to handle sourcing packages (RFQ, Quote Analysis and Source Selection) and to establish a capable/driven global supply base
Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e., benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, etc.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Automotive industry experience
Knowledge of materials management
Capable of interpreting changing market data
Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
Solid knowledge of contract law as well as GM terms & conditions and its applications regarding purchasing processes
Ability to work with multiple JV partners, globally, independently, and self-directed
Ability to travel at least 5% of time, including international travel
