The Finance Director is responsible for various financial functions including business analytics, annual planning and quarterly forecasting, metrics/performance reporting, participating in the financial management of the business and ad-hoc analysis. This person will partner with the business leaders to create in-depth financial models and analysis of company financial and operational metrics to evaluate and influence numerous aspects of the company's business performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Partner with the business to develop budgets and forecasts based on analytical insight, expected business performance and contract level financial inputs
• Financial analysis of membership, premium, medical expense results and premium yields - identifying trends, variances and potential performance opportunities and/or concerns at the contract level
• Partner to optimize contract financial performance across the business within the parameters of each contract - becoming a contract level financial expert
• Articulate financial performance to leadership team through artifacts that simplify understanding, create a consultative conversation around financial performance and supports influencing subsequent actions
• Partner with leaders to understand and control operating expenses, inclusive of workforce productivity reviews and developing annual / quarterly FTE plans/forecasts
• Providing finance support around existing contract reviews and new business opportunities
• Lead development of business/financial case for developing ideas, programs and specific initiatives or capital investments
• Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes, identify areas of improvement and influence change

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business finance or Accounting
• 5+ years progressive financial planning and analysis experience
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience in enterprise financial systems such as PeopleSoft/Oracle
• Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Medicaid contract planning and/or analysis experience (Dental or other)
• Experience interacting with State Medicaid agency representatives
• Solid analytic background, attention to details
• Excellent communication and organization skills
