Must be DE and LAPP approved.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNoneESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSValidates the accuracy of all calculations and loan documentation provided.Underwrites and determines Credit, Income, Assets, and Collateral for all loan products offered by KFCU meets guidelines.Mentors both Underwriter I and Underwriter II at all levels and assists them with complex underwriting issues.Maintains credit union service levels to provide established turn times for first underwrite and clearing conditions.Works closely in a collaborative environment to assist Loan Processors and Loan Originators for general guideline interpretations and questions on specific loan files.Trains operations team on income calculations and loan documentation requirements.Assists in internal quality control, audit review issues, and respond to audit findings.Stays updated on all Loan Product guidelines offered by KFCU to ensure minimal losses incurred by KFCU in the event of audit or default.Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)Utilizes The Member Advantage AIDINC system to identify potential member (internal or external) service needs which can be met through the sale of credit union products and services, or adherence to the department's policy and procedures.Meets continuing education requirements.Is proficient in all mortgage department systems related to underwriting.Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to KFCU's internal compliance policies and procedures. Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policiesOther Duties and Responsibilities:Addresses loan issues in a timely manner to ensure an extraordinary member experience resulting in no disruption to closing date established at time of origination.Assists the Underwriting Manager with training presentations and other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education:BSBA preferred in Finance, Accounting, or Business.Experience and Other Requirements:Intermediate-Advanced underwriting, advanced tax return analysis, advanced collateral assessment (appraisal analysis).Minimum of 4 years current underwriting experience to include 2 years of government underwriting experience.Extreme attention to detail and organization.Strong email etiquette.Ability to build relationships with internal and external members.Ability to analyze complex income, assets, credit and collateral.Proven decision-making skills.Displays initiative and drive for results.Able to work independently.Strong problem-solving, analytical and resolution skills.Good written and oral communication skills.Intermediate to advanced technical/functional skills are required.Experience with USDA GUS, DU, and LPA.Able to perform duties within prescribed productivity timelines while maintaining high quality.Utilizes proper listening skills to identify and resolve issues quickly. To Able to maintain high production and quality.Overtime may be required as work and circumstances require.Interpersonal SkillsA significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
