GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Required:
Master's Degree in Biological Science or related field, with a minimum of 18.0 graduate
hours in Biology.
Preferred:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Biological Science.
Experience with teaching adults.
Minimum of two years teaching experience with emphasis in lab preparations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.
- Teach 15.0-17.0 hours of undergraduate class in Biology each term.
- Academic advising of students.
- Active participation in college committees.
- Work cohesively with lecture instructor(s) to maintain lab, providing consistent
coordination among lab sections and ensuring safety and compliance.
- Work with lecture faculty to devise a coordinated set of experiments and timeline for
labs.
- Manage course grading and records management.
- Contribute to department-wide program development and assessment.
- Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Participate in professional development activities and contribute to the general
college community.
- Maintain regular required office hours to be available and meet with students.
- Organize and manage purchasing of inventory and stockroom resources.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This positions entails instruction, maintenance, and purchasing for all aspects of
campus Biology lab experiences.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is
occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
