We are looking to expand our Legal and Compliance Team! The Assistant General Counsel / Senior Counsel position provides legal support to the Credit, Loan Services, and Marketplace departments, as well as the Risk Asset Unit. This position also supports the General Counsel on other Association legal matters and provides legal support to other association departments as directed. Expert knowledge of laws, regulations and issues related to ownership and transfer of, and security interests in real estate and mortgage lending, including related documentation and closing processes is required. Minimum Qualifications

  • D. in Law with experience in agriculture, business, or a related area
  • 3 years of real estate loan law or loan related experience


Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Expert knowledge of laws, regulations and issues related to ownership and transfer of, and security interests in real estate and mortgage lending, including related documentation and closing processes
  • Significant knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations including consumer credit/reporting (including TRID, TIL, ECOA, FCRA, etc.), Uniform Commercial Code and statutory liens affecting real and personal property
  • Skill in leading and supervising staff of loan services specialists
  • Skill in focusing and concentrating on details
  • Skill in interacting diplomatically with internal and external customers of various backgrounds in a high volume setting
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences
  • Skill in setting priorities to reflect the importance of job responsibilities
  • Skill in developing, implementing and maintaining quality control measures
  • Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association's systems and data and clients' data
