The position of Financial/Cost Analyst is within our Toxicology business unit, within our finance team, located at our Kansas City, Missouri office and will be a part of our Workplace Services business, which is committed to developing and delivering innovative products and services. These products and services automate and streamline the employee screening process by combining cutting-edge technology with superior customer service.
The Financial/Cost Analyst will contribute to operating cost forecasting and analytics, margin analysis and a wide range of ad-hoc reporting projects for two laboratories. We seek someone who approaches projects with an innovative, service-oriented mindset, and a strong emphasis on data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will possess an analytical mind and a strong desire to make an impact.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Compare and analyze monthly operating cost results to forecast, plan and prior year, identifying and documenting key business drivers of variances in monthly reporting package
- Maintain and periodically update cost allocation models for measuring customer profitability and laboratory operating performance
- Prepare monthly direct labor productivity and key performance indicator reporting
- Complete direct labor headcount modeling in accordance with laboratory volume projections
- Work collaboratively with laboratory operations and finance team to develop and maintain detailed quarterly forecasts
- Support internal business partners with managing operating costs to forecast and proactively elevate risks and opportunities
- Analyze input and operational costs and elevate opportunities for cost reduction/management
- Complete Requests for Capital Expenditures, prepare supporting return-on-investment and DCF projections and monitor actual spend vs. authorized
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 2-3 years, or more, of work experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting or operations finance
- Periodic travel required (5%)
Preferred
- Master's Degree preferred but not required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks on-time with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to organize and interpret large amounts of data, identify and interpret trends and summarize in a clear and concise format
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and business acumen
- Proficient in Excel and proven experience in building operating cost models preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
