About This Job
As a Senior Enterprise Risk Management Advisor, the main purpose of this job is to support the Enterprise Risk Management team with the development and execution of the Commerce Bancshares ERM program, including: identification, evaluation, mitigation, monitoring and reporting on the Company's risks; performing and facilitating risk assessments and using the assessment outputs to understand and advise on the relationship of risks across the Company; and assisting first line of defense leadership in prioritizing risk management efforts.
Essential Functions
Represent the second line of defense, promote a risk aware culture and advise on a variety of corporate and department initiatives
Advise on and support risk management activities in the first line of defense, serve as second line of defense liaison with lines of business and corporate functions
Advise on and facilitate ERM risk assessment processes, analysis and reporting
Coordinate, update and provide executive and board reporting on top risks and corporate level key risk indicators
Work with other second-line of defense departments to develop and maintain an integrated risk and control assessment and reporting program
Assist with updates to the Company's risk appetite statement
Produce executive and board level reporting on supervisory activities
Develop and implement a program to identify, assess, monitor and report on emerging industry and Company risks and their potential impacts
Promote an effective program monitoring, evaluating, prioritizing mitigation efforts and reporting on activities to address regulatory and second and third line of defense issues and findings
Lead and conduct specialty risk assessments
Understand and support, on an as-needed basis, risk analysis and reporting tools and programs
Keep abreast of risk management related regulations, guidance and industry developments
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with Company business and support unit partners
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills & Abilities Required
Familiarity with and ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to Company functions
Well-developed knowledge of risk management-related financial institution regulations and guidance
Strong knowledge of risk identification, assessment and management frameworks
Strong knowledge of control frameworks and the ability to design and evaluate effectiveness of controls embedded within business processes
Previous direct and cross-functional team leadership or project management skills preferred
Strong strategic and critical thinking skills
Ability to independently identify, prioritize, monitor, communicate and/or resolve issues
Willingness to lead and facilitate risk discussions and participate in critical conversations with both management and individual contributors
Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
Advanced proficiency in a variety of standard and risk reporting software tools including Microsoft Word, Excel ,Outlook, Power Point, Visio, PowerBI and experience with Governance, Risk & Compliance systems/software
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent combination of education and experience required
6+ years of risk management, legal, internal audit or compliance experience or equivalent technical knowledge
4 years of well-rounded and progressive banking or financial institution experience
CPA, CERP (Certified Enterprise Risk Professional), Certified Bank Auditor, Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) preferred
