JOB SUMMARY
This UX designer is largely responsible for building and designing innovative visualizations for reports and dashboards. Operates within the Business Intelligence group to evaluate the stories that business stakeholders need to tell with data, and offer recommended designs on how best to convey that story through visualizing data. Role will additionally define best UX design practices and standards for visualizations, to ensure readability, consistency, and a positive overall user experience. Will operate across web, mobile, and embedded visualizations primarily via MicroStrategy, Tableau and supported visualization modules. Responsible for evaluating new visualization features available from vendors. Actively work with BI team to propose, define, better design standards and data visualization products.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with Business Intelligence leaders to identify visualization opportunities and provide prototype work, or internal consultation and recommendations on how best to present data to users. Advocate for the use of visualizations to convey a message, and support the continued transformation of Charter into a data and analytics-driven organization.

Performs number of roles within the BI Architecture group:

• Define and propose new UX design standards, for better visualizations, and user-experience function
• Design standards to apply across web, mobile, embedded, and emailed reports
• Consults with supporting Business Units to identify best reporting & visualizations to meet requirements
• Review and approve new reports, dashboards, and visualizations before they get promoted to production, to ensure they are performant, usable, and meet standards
• Collaborate with business units on user requirements, offer design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
• Some functions include better page navigation, buttons, icons and develop UX mockups and Using tools Adobe Photoshop/XD/Illustrator, Prototype, Figma...etc
• Prepare drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders, Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
• Helps to troubleshoot and provide support for broken report visualizations, non-performant reports, and other issues around the configuration/setup of the BI tooling
• Evaluate and test new features/releases of MicroStrategy and provide recommendations and approach for better adoption
• Work with BI verticals to design the reporting framework and provide assistance with guided workflows and logical workflow on both web & mobile reporting
• Evaluate and manipulate data as required to test, model, or trial the use of reports and visualizations. Monitor technology, vendor, and industry trends for new data visualizations, and participate in strategic
projects that intend to introduce or utilize new methods of displaying data and associated analytics
• Collaborate with team members working to improve the user experience of legacy/existing reports, provide expert guidance on conveying data through visualizations and usability/readability advice
• Develop new reports as required, and build demo-reports to display visualization possibilities with the aim of inspiring their appropriate us

Qualifications/Experience (TBD, with language required for the selected job title):
• Deep familiarity with UX/UI principles
• Some Business Intelligence Experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to design and manipulate visualizations using D3.js library and associated technologies
• Prior experience creating complex report visualizations, such as Sankey, Journey, or Infographics
• Supplied portfolio of visualizations preferred

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proven Experience as UX/UI designer and provide any portfolio of designed projects
Proven experience defining, applying design standards
Knowledge of wireframe tools
Proven ability to quickly grasp business requirements and translate them into optimized solution blueprints
Strong problem solving, collaboration and communication skills Passion for leveraging data to improve business outcomes
Act as a mentor to one or more UX Designers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification in Adobe/Photoshop is a plus
Design in Computer Science or relevant field.
Prior experience with design a prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma or similar
Solid knowledge of prototyping tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote etc.,) as well as workflow tools (Omnigraffle)
Passion for problem solving, Out of the box thinker who can leverage a wide range of skills to present concise and practical solutions to complex problems
At least 3-5 years of demonstrable experience in user interface design and development
Strong analytical and communication skills
Must be able to learn new technologies, the domain space very quickly and present ideas
Must have the eagerness to innovate and the ability to initiate discussions regarding new ideas and attention to detail

Education
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Arts or equivalent training, education and experience
Master’s degree preferred

Related Work Experience
5-7 Yrs Experience in Flash, HTML, CSS, Photoshop, D3 viz
5-7 Yrs Experience in user interface design and development
3-5 Yrs Experience using prototyping tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma ,Photoshop, Illustrator )

Office environment
Travel - 10%.
