Job description

SUMMARY

Provides leadership to HR team in developing strong business partner relations and employee advocacy. Plans and administers policies, strategies and programs relating to all phases of the human resource function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the human resources function and ensures employee relations policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with federal and state law. Provides guidance to HR team and other functional leaders on these topics.

Oversees the payroll process. Works with Finance providing information as needed.

Ensures the coordination of required HR training needed within EFCO: interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions/progression, performance evaluation, safety, FMLA/ADA, harassment and discrimination, and compliance.

Advises manufacturing management and other human resources professionals in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and corrective action. Develops rapport and partnership with leadership and team members in functional areas of support.

Responds to inquiries from a variety of HR and other professionals regarding policies, procedures, and programs.

Develops and coordinates the continuous improvement of employee relations and corrective action policies, and the communication of those policies.

Assists in the direction and development of strategies and programs administered and performed by others such as: employee services, recruiting exempt and nonexempt, selection, retention, health services, plant schedules, training programs, compensation plans, wage surveys, job bids, benefits reviews, unemployment, workers' compensation, disability, orientation, HRIS, employee activities, and metric analysis.

Coordinates and facilitates the resolution of employee performance issues.

Participates actively in the identification and development of HR strategies.

Motivates team members to achieve continuous process improvement, self-development, cross training, safe behaviors, high performance teamwork, and a customer focus toward employees and managers.

Ensures the coordination of employee orientations, employee assistance, recreational activities, and other employee-related programs.

Works effectively with HR suppliers and/or coordinates their services on site--legal, security, communications, EAP, etc.

Works closely with Operations Senior Management, advising and coaching leaders on best solutions to people related issues.

Participates on special assignment teams as assigned.

Reviews reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.

Oversees the organizational needs for EFCO: organizational effectiveness survey and response, employee and manager morale and issues, communication strategies and needs, recruiting strategies and needs, workforce planning, and union-free strategies and needs.

Motivates and develops employee relations team members to meet and exceed business function needs.

Participates in EFCO's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages HR team assigned to specific functions within the department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, coaching and development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
* Five or more years of HR Business Partner / Generalist experience
* Experience in team management and coaching/developing employee performance
* Experience in change management
* 5 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager in a manufacturing environment preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
