The position of R&D QA Technician is responsible for providing support to the quality department and overall operations.
Position: R&D QA Technician, Food Production
Location: Saint Clair, MO
Reports to: Quality and Plant Managers
Position Specifics:
• Perform sensory, physical, chemical and/or instrumental evaluation of raw material, in process, or finished products following SOP and specifications.
• Expedite evaluation process and provide information to production and technical services.
• Assist in developing and maintaining raw material and finished product specifications.
• Assist in trouble shooting quality problems in production.
• Generate Certificate of Analysis.
• Participate in test panels.
• Maintain laboratory data, files and supplies, as well as maintaining databases.
• Calibrate equipment on a regular schedule.
• Assist with working on corrective actions of any customer complaints/issues.
• Follow all quality, safety and company protocols & procedures.
• Other duties and special projects assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
• Associates Degree in Chemistry
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a laboratory environment
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Multi-tasking is critical to this position
• Take initiative and proactive attitude
• Ability to speak, read and write clearly in English.
• Ability to use and maintain lab equipment and computer skills.
• Significant amount of time standing, working at bench.
Optimum Requirements for Temp Quality Technician with possible progression to Quality Supervisor
Additional Responsibilities:
• Supervise and train Quality Technicians
• Assist in developing a Quality Management System.
• Analyze data for process capability and recommend next steps in out-of-specification investigations.
• Take the lead in trouble shooting quality problems in production and make recommendations on corrective actions.
• Assist with development of quality protocols and procedures.
• Assist with the development of test methods new to the company.
Additional Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Food Science
• Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a laboratory environment
• Experience writing reports and presenting in meetings.
• Experience working with multiple departments (R&D, Operations, Management)
