Millard Public Schools is seeking kitchen helpers to assist where needed in our elementary, middle, or high school kitchens. This is a great foot in the door and a way to experience different environments before committing to one. This position is not a sub. Work 6 hours per day, 5 days a week in varied locations depending upon need. This is a 10-month position with year-round benefits!

Millard Public Schools is searching for hard-working, reliable kitchen helpers to assist with our elementary, middle, or high school food service programs, providing meals for students and building staff in a fun, fast-paced environment. This is a 10-month position (generally working the same schedule as students) with year-round benefits! LOVE WHAT YOU DO!!

Experience preferred but not required - training provided!

Kitchen Helper Position Summary: Assist Production Manager and Lead in day-to-day operations within the kitchen to ensure a quality breakfast and lunch program for the student body and faculty. Shift times TBD.

Essential Duties:

  • Operate a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving, and storing
  • Clean and prepare vegetables and fruits
  • Read recipes and/or product directions and assist in preparing foods, and properly store food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage
  • Taste products, read menus, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment and follow all Sodexo, Millard Public Schools, and regulatory rules and procedures
  • Record production numbers in production records as needed, and assist in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees using HACCP and temperature (milk, freezer, refrigerator, line box) logs. Report to the Production Manager any service requests and work orders promptly
  • Prepare for meal service and clean assigned areas after service

Cashier : Operate a cash register (or equivalent), receive payments of cash, checks, and charges from students and staff for goods or services, and make change.

Maintain the proper level of security of cash at all times. Understand and follow Sodexo and Millard Public Schools' cash handling policies and procedures

Knowledge and Skills: Apply basic cooking skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position.

  • Apply knowledge of department policies and procedures, and utilize a general understanding of other departments' functions
  • Effectively communicate and receive information in a manner easily understood by fellow staff members, and provide the highest quality service to students and staff at all times
  • Calculate and correct entries, and post to records. Effectively communicate accounting information policies and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the students or staff.
