Job description

SUMMARY: The Process Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes by applying processing technique to problem solving and root cause analysis.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and modification of specifications, methods, and controls to meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards
  • Provide Process Engineering resources through continuous integration and development to achieve predefined continuous improvement targets and/or objectives.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and determines processing specifications, modifications or additions, resource requirements and machine capabilities
  • Support, establish, and manage machine operating standards
  • Use various technical/manufacturing reports, videos, and logs to monitor and assess multiple process control initiatives daily
  • Analyze data using (SPC) Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma tools to achieve continuous improvement goals plant wide; considered to be a subject matter expert in each of these areas
  • Participate in bench and pilot plant testing with product development team
  • Provide technical and process management support to all levels of the Operation's management team
  • Acts as a liaison between engineering/technical support, NPD, and various department heads.
  • Follows the corrective action process to track, analyze, document, prioritize, and assign resources to proactively resolve ongoing processing control issues
  • Consults with internal and external subject matter experts to resolve technical and process control issues
  • Reports food safety concerns to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering
  • Previous experience in injection plastics molding and processing is preferred
  • Experience in the area of manufacturing operations, process validations, design of experiment and statistics required

  • Proven track record driving process yield enhancement, cost reduction, and SPC systems
  • Experience in the area of manufacturing operations, process validations, design of experiment and statistics
  • Ability to learn new technologies and become a subject matter expert quickly
  • Expert knowledge of process improvement methodology

  • Capability to utilize problem solving skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects/activities/goals

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, supervisors, employees and customers
