Job Description
Underwriting Assistant - Middle Market Solutions - open to remote location
Summary:
The Underwriting Assistant supports various underwriting and operations processes, including communication with outside agents, as well as internal departments in support of the underwriting process for current and prospective clients.
What you will do for C&F:
* Prepare underwriting documentation forms and workbooks and enter general information, for new business and renewals.
* Review and compile loss information and identify trends for underwriter review, as well as experience rating entry by the Operations Specialist.
* Maintain stewardship log and initiate stewardship meetings for assigned underwriters.
* Assist the Underwriter by identifying new business submissions that fail to meet class and acceptability guidelines.
* Follow up with producer for all required information, and request any additional information such as forms, supplemental applications, loss runs, exposures, etc.
* Review renewals and update account information and exposure changes on a timely basis to allow the underwriter adequate time to prepare timely delivery of conditional and non-renewal notices to the appropriate parties.
* Post Bind, communicate and follow up with producers, as needed, to obtain necessary information and contingencies, including required signed forms, risk engineering compliance, and reinsurance deal sheets.
* Communicate with internal departments and respond to policy questions and resolve issues, such as Financial and FAC Reinsurance. Serve as a resource/point of contact internally for the underwriting team.
* Establish relationships with key agents/brokers in support of their respective Underwriter. This would involve becoming a point of contact for the agent/broker and traveling with their underwriter on sales calls as is practical. Target travel of at least once a quarter.
* Assist Underwriter in reviewing the acceptability of MVRs. This would include working with their underwriter in determining acceptable and unacceptable drivers.
* Complete the file completion check list
* Can work remotely from almost any US state based on business needs.
What you will bring to C&F:
* Solid knowledge of ISO commercial lines policy rating and issuing transactions in corporate systems.
* Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access.
* Strong verbal and written communication, as well as, math skills.
* Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Flexible and open to an ever changing, fast paced environment.
* Ability to follow protocol with an emphasis on quality and customer service.
