Job description
Mechanical Design Engineer
Job summary: Researches, develops, designs, tests, and evaluates mechanical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering. Designs and documents electro-mechanical equipment, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Integrates existing and new part designs into a functional and manufacturable system.
· With the engineering team, develops and assembles prototypes of new product to meet customer specifications using 3D printing and machining.
· Conducts product design reviews with the cross functional team to assure design feasibility and adherence to customer specification.
· Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
· Evaluates previous part designs and manufacturing processes for best production efficiency and part standardization.
· May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
· Use Solidworks design software to perform engineering tasks including:
o Part design
o Detailed assembly design
o Detailed manufacturing drawings
o Interference evaluation
o Revision history and documentation.
o Bills of materials
o Create product renderings
· Communicates with customers and vendors when needed.
· Documents designs and processes in accordance with ISO 9001.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- 3-5 years experience in an engineering position
- Function with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of machining practices.
- High mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with cameras and optics is desired.
- Ability and eagerness to learn.
Experience and credentials:
- BSME or related degree.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Solidworks.
- Must be a US citizen by requirement of government contact
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
