Job description

Multiple openings available. Great opportunities for candidates seeking to transition from Investment/Wall Street Banking to Pharma Business Development. Must have the ability to build financial models for P&L/Deal Assessments. Deal Negotiations a plus.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Identifying and sourcing in-licensing or acquisition opportunities. Analyzing targets' R&D pipelines, operations, financial performance, and commercial prospects.
  • Leading sales divestiture and out-licensing processes including marketing and data room formation
  • Developing complex financial models to value and analyze acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, and monetization transactions.
  • Assess global markets and opportunities, and determine the feasibility of strategic transactions, M&A, licensing/development, collaborations, joint ventures, and distribution / co-promotion opportunities that support the Company. Prepare business cases for presentation to various internal stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Coordinate and drive due diligence process for potential opportunities with both internal and external stakeholders; interpret and distill business implications to report findings to senior management.
  • Ability to model and develop complex financial structures to meet custom needs of an opportunity.
  • Identify potential opportunities aligned with company's growth drivers; includes participation in industry conferences, market research and investigative meetings with promising companies. Leverage industry contacts / relationships to access new opportunities; expand external network of the organization.
  • Develop models to forecast the financial performance of a potential product, product line or business, including contribution to revenue, expenditures and net income, as well as, develop valuation and pro forma analysis to help determine the financial feasibility of an opportunity and advise management on the assumptions underlying models.


Education/Experience

  • At least 5 to 10 years of Business Development, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, or related is required.
  • Graduate level degree - MBA and/or PhD, or equivalent from a top tier school.
  • Prior healthcare business development/transactional experience is required.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills including the ability to research, synthesize, and effectively communicate strategic industry, competitor, and financial information
  • Ability to understand clinical data and analyze R&D pipeline.
  • Investment banking (sell-side / buy-side mandate) experience preferred.
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical industry is preferred.
