Job description

The Position:

The Counsel will be a member of Arch Insurance Group, Inc.s Corporate Litigation group, which has responsibility for managing corporate, extra contractual, reinsurance and other complex litigation. The position reports directly to the Chief Litigation Officer. The candidate should have strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and balance a variety of tasks.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage a litigationdocketconsistingof corporate, extra-contractual, and complex litigation pending throughout the United States, across varied lines of business.
  • Provide oversight and support to the Claims Department in complex coverage litigation, including review and approval of declaratory judgment actions.
  • Manage and collaborate with outside counsel to ensure high-quality written work product is filed on behalf of AIGI, including coordination of internal resources, review and approval of pleadings and briefs, legal analysis and formulation of strategy.
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on the ordinary and special activities of the claims department and specified insurance business unit(s).
  • Provide legal counsel and review, draft and negotiate documents in connection with claims, contracts and insurance related products.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of department initiatives to achieve efficiency and reduction or elimination of legal exposure.
  • Work in partnership with the company's operational areas, including, as appropriate, underwriting, reinsurance, marketing, claims, finance, tax, technology and human resources.
  • Operate as a business partner with the business team by collaborating to successfully achieve the business units goals and objectives.
Required Skills/Experience:

  • Admitted to practice in at least one state.
  • The ideal candidate will be an Attorney with at least five (5) years of major law firm experience.

Education:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
