Overview

The Production Planner is responsible for development of the production plan covering commercial and development requirements. The Production Planner will be responsible for determining which items are manufactured and in what quantities based upon customer demand. Responsibilities include monitoring production execution and overall site performance. Providing data to support metrics and site improvements. The role supports production order creation, transfer and release to support the production plan. The role works and collaborates with internal teams to support production and preventive maintenance scheduling throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is very detail oriented, has a very good understanding of MRP, ERP and manufacturing and is independently comfortable coordinating and communicating cross-functionally throughout the organization. Very strong communication skills are a must and public speaking will be required. Candidate must be a self-starter and ambitious.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of development or commercial products: Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Reports on weekly KPI's
  • Update production orders, line, labor allocations onto production schedule
  • Update production schedule with progression and re-plan jobs as necessary to support Master Scheduler
  • Suggest process improvements based on KPI evaluation
  • Evaluate labor allocations and schedule jobs accordingly
  • Attend or lead internal customer meetings
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering and Validation on daily and weekly inputs to the production schedule
  • Support end to end Supply Chain Management and team as needed
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience required; preferably in the pharmaceutical / Medical Device industry.
